Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a progressive tailor made exercise regime that will restore full range of motion and strength to a region that has been injured, undergone surgery or suffered pain and dysfunction. As a Chartered Physiotherapist, I have specialist training to prescribe programmes of stretches and strengthening work to rehabilitate each client to their particular goal.

Whether that is returning to competitive sport, returning to work after an episode of injury or getting back to gardening painfree.

What is Rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation is a structured process designed to help individuals regain strength, flexibility, and mobility after an injury or surgery. It involves progressive exercises and therapeutic techniques tailored to the needs of each person.

Types of Rehabilitation Programs:

  • Post-Surgical Rehabilitation – Helps recovery after surgeries such as knee replacement, rotator cuff repair, or spinal surgery.
  • Sports Injury Rehabilitation – Focuses on returning athletes to their sport safely while preventing future injuries.
  • Work Injury Rehabilitation – Aims to help individuals recover from workplace injuries and regain function.
  • Chronic Pain Rehabilitation – Targets long-term conditions like arthritis or lower back pain through movement and therapy.

Techniques Used in Rehabilitation:

  • Stretching & Strengthening Exercises – Improve flexibility and restore muscle balance.
  • Manual Therapy – Includes joint mobilisations and soft tissue massage to ease pain and stiffness.
  • Balance & Coordination Training – Helps prevent falls and improves functional movement.
  • Posture Correction – Essential for those recovering from spinal injuries or back pain.
  • Progressive Load Training – Gradually increases exercise intensity to rebuild strength safely.

Chartered Physiotherapists are experts in musculoskeletal conditions, and they will use both techniques in your treatment sessions.
